Dr. Bill Hamilton, Registered Psychologist. Pediatric Neuropsychological Evaluations From Infancy to Young Adulthood. Services include Neuropsychological Evaluations, Psychoeducational Evaluations and Developmental. Neuropsychological Evaluation Dr. Hamilton sees all ranges of children and young adults for neuropsychological evaluations. The goal is to establish a clear picture of who the child is, how he or she is functioning, and help identify what might be interfering with day-to-day life, learning, and/or overall functioning. Although a neuropsychological evaluation can include the educational component, it looks at a number of other domains and abilities, including cognitive skills, brain-behaviour relationships (i.e., language; motor skills; visual perception), social skills, and even personality functioning if necessary. Assessments can help determine that child’s strengths and weaknesses, how that child best learns, and assist with specific academic, psychological, and/or neurological interventions. The report will finally guide the caregiver through recommendations for both home and school. This can address specific goals in an Individual Education Plan at school, if needed. Psychoeducational Evaluation Dr. Hamilton provides psychoeducational evaluations for children and young adults of all ages. This evaluation is useful when a student is having academic difficulty and one wants to know why. Testing looks at the child’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses, academic skills, and underlying processes needed to be a good student. The evaluation will not only help you know whether a learning disability is present, but identify academic roadblocks. The goal will be to create a plan to help guide your decisions, education, extracurricular activities, and move a child towards a more positive educational experience. Developmental Testing Dr. Hamilton conducts developmental evaluations of all types, to help caregivers determine developmental milestones and possible delays. For children entering school-age, Dr. Hamilton can also assess whether a child has attentional limitations or not (i.e. ADHD).” Dr. Hamilton also does medical-legal evaluations. When requested by a lawyer, fees are typically paid by the law firm representing your case.
